One of my current research projects through Gone But Not Forgotten NSW focuses on Sandgate Cemetery in Newcastle, NSW. Established in 1881, Sandgate is one of Australia’s largest and most historically significant cemeteries. My research explores forgotten graves, cemetery history, burial practices, heritage preservation, and community memory through archaeology, photography, mapping, and archival research. This project aims to document and preserve the stories, landscapes, and history connected to this important cultural and memorial site.
